Les Thanatonautes is a science fiction book by a French author, Bernard Werber. I actually read the book in Korean. At first, when it started talking about death and the questions of afterlife and how several individuals began a movement that shocked the whole work at the time of the setting of the novel, my first reaction was like, "What the #$%$ is this?". Then, I got into the book and it is pretty lengthy, and I actually really enjoyed it. It raised multiple philosophical questions and it had little bits and pieces of different tales from different cultures and religions about their thoughts and ideas about the afterlife. Although I am a Christian and believe that there is afterlife for those who believe. I can never be sure until I am dead and finally there myself to witness it. However, I thought it was astonishing that this author did not simply stop at the thought of the question of afterlife, but rather wrote a whole book about these thanatonautes. It is a really interesting read. Makes you want to question how this author even came up with such a story, but it is pretty mind blowing and I enjoyed it alot.
